DESCRIPTION: 14 - 17 mm in length. A lovely green looking species with vistigial wings, long legs and long whip-like antennae. There is a creamy-yellow dorsal stripe and two reddish spots on top of the pro-thorax. The female has a long, slightly upturned ovipositor. The male has long curved cerci. BEHAVIOUR: A nocturnal tree dwelling species that is attracted to light. A carnivorous species that feeds on small insects such as Horse Chestnut Leaf Miner Moths. DISTRIBUTION: Mainly distributed from central Britain southwards but spreading further north. HABITAT: An arboreal species found in and around wherever Oaksre found. PERIOD: Best seen through summer to late autumn. |
