DESCRIPTION: Similar to several other species with the wing venation helping to confirm identification. The abdomen is gingery-brown with a series of black dots on the upperside. These dots are replaced by thicker black bands on the latter abdominal segements. The scutellum is of a similar colour and the thorax is bronzy-green with faint longitudinal lines. BEHAVIOUR: Prone to sunbathing on vegetation. DISTRIBUTION: Common throughout. HABITAT: Woodland rides, around pond margins and marshy areas. PERIOD: April to early September.
