CAP: 3 - 5cm in diameter.  The cap can range through violaceous tints to crimson brown. Pointed with a paler margin that gives a pleated appearance. STIPE: Concolorous with cap, fibrillose and glabrous. GILLS/PORES: Gills are evenly spaced and pale pinkish with a brownish edge. FLESH: Watery and having no distinct odour or taste. SPORES: Strongly amyloid. HABITAT: Strictly on fallen Pine Cones. SEASON: Uncommon, mainly southern. Late summer to autumn. EDIBILITY: Inedible.
