FRUIT BODY: 5 - 15cm funnel-shaped with an ash-grey spore bearing outer surface and a brown/black scurfy inner surface. Becomes more irregularly wavy at the margins and also dries paler. GILLS/PORES: N/A. FLESH: Thin and leathery. SPORES: White and elliptical. HABITAT: In clusters in leaf litter beneath deciduous trees. SEASON: Occasional.  Summer to late autumn. EDIBILITY: Edible when young.
