1. Tell us a bit about Paul Carter - his interests, his punk ethics and bands, people he admires!

I am a 42 year old punk who's been making music with various bands since the late 70s, most of which have been totally unsuccesful. My interests include dog walking (this is a bit boring since my dog died), playing guitar and drums, british amphibians and the history of Derby.

My punk ethics are- look how you want,sound how you want and do what you want.My favourite bands are the Damned, UK Subs, 3CR, Dead Pets, ANWL, etc. My fave bands change a lot, but this lot are usually up there near the top. I admire Terry Waite and Mother Theresa (I'm not religeous,but you've got to admire people who will go to such lengths for what they believe in), and Boy George, I don't like his music, but he is a true individual and is interesting to listen to.
2. What would be your ideal gig to play on?

My ideal gig would be to support the Damned in front of 10,000 people and everybody to think that I was better than them.

3. Given the choice would you - a/ Eat excrement b/ remove your own nipples with a nail clipper or
c/ listen to an Elton John album?

I'd definitely go for the excrement, listening to an Elton John single would be bad enough.
4. What is the best track you have ever written?
I think its a new one that I've just written about traffic wardens,but you'll have to wait and see how it goes 'cause it ain't quite finished.

5. Why should people go and watch Paul Carter?
I can't think of any reason why people shouldn't go and see me. I'm handsome, funny, great voice, amazing guitar playing skills and modest.

6. Tell us the good and bad things about punk today?
The good thing about punk today is that most of the people into it seem to be 100% into it and not just for the pose. The bad thing is,not enough people are into it.

7. Darth Vader - intergalactic anal expert or a naughty man?
I'm afraid I don't know much about Star Wars, I'm more of a 'Whovian' and I would say the 'Daleks' are quite naughty.

8. Whats the best gig you've ever done?
I've done quite a few 'Best' gigs. Usually the best gigs are ones that I think are gonna be crap for one reason or another,but they turn out to be brilliant.

9. If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 items would you take?
My wife, cannabis and some sun cream.

10. Being rather comedic yourself - who are your favourite comedians?
Steve Coogan, Ricky Gervais, Catherine Tate, Rik Mayall, Ade Edmondson, Tommy Cooper, Spike Milligan and many more. Can I just say that I think Jim Davidson is the most unfunny person I've ever seen on TV,infact I don't even know why I've brought his name up while on the subject of comedians.

Like I said earlier, look how you want, sound how you want, do what you want.
