DESCRIPTION: Similar to common toad but slightly smaller
in size reaching a maximum of 8cm. The distinctive yellow stripe
along the flattened body with various red spots are key ID
features. DISTRIBUTION: Restricted to a few sites in south-west
Scotland, the north-west and the south & east. HABITAT: Sandy heaths and mature dune systems with
appropriate shallow, saline pools. BEST TIME TO SEE: Spring to autumn. |
