DESCRIPTION: Long flowing tentacles that are green to purplish in colour with sometimes darker purple tips this anemone has a really painful sting. The name is derived from the fact that the tentacles look like a mass of writhing snakes. These tentacles are rarely withdrawn. DISTRIBUTION: Sunny south-west shores. HABITAT: Among rocky areas on the lower shore. BEST TIME TO SEE: All year round. |
