DESCRIPTION: Height up to 25cm. The basal leaves
are bluish-green and are unspotted. The stem is straight and
occasionally becomes flushed purplish higher up. The fragrant
flowers are loosely clustered and range from deep purple to pink through
to white. The main ID feature are the green parallel veins on the
3 sepals which together form a hood. The lip is 3 lobed. DISTRIBUTION: Widely distributed throughout southern
Britain. HABITAT: Grassland and open scrub. FLOWERING TIME: May to June. |
