DESCRIPTION: Up to 35mm in length with chestnut coloured
elytron that appears to be dusted with white. The abdomen has white markings along each side.
Males have large, orange-brown fan-like antennae with 7 lamellae (see
Fig 1). BEHAVIOUR: Dusk flying. Attracted to light and
carrion. Occasionally swarming. DISTRIBUTION: Common throughout, more so in the South. HABITAT: Woods, gardens and hedgerows. PERIOD: May to June. |
