FRUIT BODY: 1-3cm wide.  Kidney-shaped to irregularly rounded with a tan woolly cap surface and an inrolled margin that becomes less so with age. Becomes wrinkled and paler. STIPE: Lateral, pale tan and slightly velvety. Abruptly stops where it meets the gills. GILLS/PORES: Gills are pale tan, close and forked and have luminescent properties. FLESH: Whitish to tan with a bitter taste but no distinct odour. Tough. SPORES: White, elliptical. HABITAT: On the trunks of various deciduous trees. SEASON: Uncommon. All year round. EDIBILITY: Inedible.
