CAP: 4-12cm wide. Marbled grey to dark brown.
Starting broadly convex becoming flattened bun shaped. Dry and felty
becoming smooth and slightly sticky. STIPE: White with mouse grey scales. Bruises greeny yellow
on handling. GILLS/PORES: Pores start white then become buff to chocolate brown. FLESH: White turning blue-green below and light pink
elsewhere. Taste and smell pleasant. SPORES: Snuff brown, subfusiform. HABITAT: Mixed damp woodland, often with birch. SEASON: Frequent. Late summer to autumn. EDIBILITY: Edible. |
