CAP: 4-8cm in diameter. Convex, pale to golden yellow,
rusty towards the centre. Smooth and fibrous. Slightly sticky when
young. STIPE: Whitish to pale yellow. Longitudinally
filamentous. White network of fungal threads at base are sometimes
present and can help towards the ID. GILLS/PORES: Gill are sinuate and attached by a small tooth.
Yellow becoming rusty. The gill edge is serrated. FLESH: Whitish with mushroomy smell. SPORES: Rust brown, ellipsoid to almond-shaped. HABITAT: On stumps of coniferous trees, especially pine. SEASON: Frequent. Late summer - autumn. EDIBILITY: Edible and tasty. |
