CAP: 7-20cm in diameter.  Broad, convex with inturned margin. Dry  golden yellow to orange with fine brown scales,
        rusty towards the centre.  Smooth and fibrous.  Slightly sticky when
      young.  STIPE: 1 to 2cm thick, swollen. GILLS/PORES: Gills are adnate, notched and slightly decurrent. Starting yellow turning orange. FLESH: Yellow and thick with a mild odour and pungent bitter taste. SPORES: Rusty orange. Rough, elliptical. HABITAT: In dense clusters on deciduous and coniferous trees. SEASON: Frequent.  Late summer - autumn. EDIBILITY: Inedible.  |
