CAP: 3-5cm in diameter. Convex then partly
expanded. Whitish buff, hygrophanous and drying almost white. STIPE: Tough and compressed. Darker than cap and covered in
a fine whitish down. GILLS/PORES: Gills are concolorous with cap and are adnexed and
crowded. FLESH: Very thin but tough in stem. No distinctive taste or
odour. SPORES: Hyaline, smooth, ellipsoid. HABITAT: Grows in clusters or close troops in mixed woodland. SEASON: Common. Late summer to autumn. EDIBILITY: Edible but worthless. |
