CAP: 4-14cm in diameter. Bay brown surface to dark brick
colour. Bun shaped with downy surface which becomes smooth and
polished. Viscid in damp weather. STIPE: Lemon yellow covered with fibrils that are concolorous
with cap. GILLS/PORES: Pores are large and when handled readily turn blue/green if pressure is applied. FLESH: White to lemon yellow becoming faint blue where cut.
Taste and smell mild and of fungus. SPORES: Olivaceous brown, subfusiform. HABITAT: In mixed woodland. SEASON: Common. Autumn. EDIBILITY: Excellent especially when young. |
