CAP: 3-12cm. Variable in colour from deep yellow to golden-orange through to clay-brown with a distinct pale margin when viewed from the underside. feeling slightly rough and viscid with a pale sticky cuticle. STIPE: Orange to clay starting club-shaped becoming more even and arising from a pink mycelium. GILLS/PORES: The pores are large and angular, yellow becoming more greenish and bruising darker when pressed. FLESH: Whitish with pinkish tinge towards base of stem. Smells slightly fruity. SPORES: Olive green. Ellipsoid to subfusiform. HABITAT: On the ground amongst litter or on bare soil with pines and other conifers. SEASON: Frequent. Late summer to autumn. EDIBILITY: Edible.
