DESCRIPTION: A common rust that is found on the leaves of the host and causes the shoots to become elongated and swollen. The bright orange aecial stage eventually produces urediniospores which travel through the air and eventually infect new plants whereupon teliospores are produced whch duly overwinter as the host dies back. SPORES: Urediniospores measure 20 -26 * 16 - 22. Teliospores are dark brown, 1 septate and measure 25 - 30 * 18 - 24. HABITAT: On wild and cultivated members of the Mint family. SEASON: Summer to early autumn.
