CAP: 2-8cm wide. White and waxy to the touch the cap starts convex becomes flattened and eventually centrally depressed. Faint striations around the cap margin can be seen especially in older specimens or when fairly moist. STIPE: Smooth, white and slightly wavy. GILLS/PORES: The thick white gills are fairly spaced and run down the stem. FLESH: White throughout. SPORES: White, sub-elliptical to pip-shaped. HABITAT: Singly or in small troops in open grassy areas and open woodland. SEASON: Common. Summer to late autumn. EDIBILITY: Edible. |
