1st October 2025 - Heaton Moor Stockport, G. Manchester - Work was hectic, I had a break with my mate Ged and indulged in some fine scran at a nearby cafe. Later in the day I popped out for some liquids and noted a few ornamental Birch. Beneath these trees was a swathe of Tricholoma scalpturatum, a tight cluster of Paxillus involutus and a small trail of Lepiota cristata. |
1st October 2025 - Heaton Mersey, Stockport, G. Manchester - Lactarius pubescens and Leccinum scabrum were both seen growing with Betula sp. whilst I pushed the bike up a hill with the rain falling and the workplace waiting. Cripes. Nearby I spied a couple of examples of Coprinus comatus - one was in an advanced state of deliquescence - I felt the same - bah. In and around the orchard and meadow on the way home I added Coprinopsis atramentaria on soil; Mycena galericulata on decorticated wood; Xylaria hypoxylon on rotten wood; Lacrymaria lacrymabunda and Paxillus involutus growing with Birch, Coprinus comatus growing alongside a path and Coleosporium tussilaginis on Colt's-Foot leaves. |

29th September 2025 - Abney Hall, Stockport, G. Manchester - A short cycle today, I had lots to do and ended up spending longer here than I should have. 27th September 2025 - Arley Hall, Cheshire - I was leading 2 autumnal walks today, we saw a few species but the fungi were at the lowest level I have ever seen at this fine area. Besides a few bugs and blooms I noted Coprinopsis lagopus on woodchip; Coprinellus micaceus on buried wood, Trametes versicolor and an unidentifiable dead trunk, Rickenella fibula in moss and Hypoxylon intermedium on Ash. |
19th September 2025 - Norris Hill, Stockport, G. Manchester - A small gathering of Agaricus campestris were seen with a semi-circle of Marasmius oreades nearby. |
19th September 2025 - River Mersey, Stockport, G. Manchester - Waltzing to work and Paxillus involutus was noted growing with Poplar, another troop of Tubaria dispersa was seen beneath Hawthorn, a few examples of Lepiota cristata were with Hazel and a small gathering of Marasmius oreades were in some low cut turf. |

16th September 2025 - River Mersey, Stockport, G. Manchester - A short stretch of the river was walked whilst on the way home from work. I recorded:- Mycena polygramma on soil with several trees; Paxillus involutus with Birch; Lactifluus vellereus with Poplar; Crepidotus calolepis on Hawthorn; Mycena galopus and Gymnopus peronatus under Hazel and Claviceps purpurea on Cock's-Foot Grass. |

15th September 2025 - Denzell Gardens and The Devisdale, Altrincham, Cheshire - A walk to the shops via this small area, the only fungi seen were:- Gymnopus dryophila; Laetiporus sulphureus; Ganoderma australe; Mycena galopus and Stereum hirsutum. |

The last time we visited here was many moons ago and we couldn't remember the layout. 6th September 2025 - AFC Blackpool, Lytham, Lancashire - Marasmius oreades; Puccinia malvacaerum and Puccinia lagenophorae were three fungi noted whilst watching another footy game. |
6th September 2025 - Lytham Hall, Lancashire - A good walk with two fine friends (who are always good company) at this area we have only visited on a couple of occasions. 5th September 2025 - Fletcher Moss area, Didsbury, G. Manchester - After work I cycled a longer way home and nipped through this area. A few fungi were recorded, these including several species associated with Fraxinus:- Eichleriella deglubens; Mycena tenerrima; Hyalorbilia inflatula; Trichoderma viride; Mycoacia uda; Psathyrella corrugis; Hymenoscyphus albidus and Nitschkia confertula. Hypholoma fasciculare was growing on a Quercus log; Scleroderma verrucosum and Marasmius rotula was beneath Corylus and on Salix I spied Chondrostereum purpureum. On various woody debris I added:- Melanotus horizontalis; Phloeomana speirea and Chaetosphaerella phaeostroma. |

31st August 2025 - Cheadle Heath, Stockport, G. Manchester - A friend gave me a strange fungus to identify the other day and so I had a go on the microscope. After looking at various characteristics and micro facets the answer was Leucocoprinus cepaestipes. It is a new one on me. |

Manchester - Walking under the brolly as the rain hammered down and I noted:- Lycoperdon molle; Tricholoma scalpturatum; Paxillus involutus and Suillellus luridus under Hazel; Cyathus striatus on general litter; Gymnopus confluens under Oak along with masses of Marasmiellus vailantii and a few examples of Russula amoenolens; Inocybe dulcamara under Salix and Hypomyces chrysospermus on some fagged out Boletes. |
4th August 2025 - Gorsey Bank, Stockport, G. Manchester - A walk into town for the latest horror mag, on the local park I spied:- Bolbitius titubans; Parasola leiocephala and Agrocybe rivulosa. |

Manchester - 2 examples of Cerioporus leptocephalus were seen growing on an Apple tree; Boletus edulis was under Fagus along with Amanita rubescens; Gymnopus dryophilus was with Salix and some fresh plates of Daedaleopsis confragosa were on a fallen Birch. Rhytisma acerinum was now appearing on Sycamore leaves. |

A semi-circle of Marasmius oreades; a woodchip loving troop of Coprinopsis lagopus and the Willowherb leaf powdering of Sphaerotheca epilobii were recorded along with a few insects. |

30th January 2025 - Chorlton WP, G. Manchester - Acid reflux, sore guts, tickly cpugh and a stye on the eye, by heck I am run down. A cycle, a few fungi were recorded to keep the peepers in and to try and distract attention. 29th January 2025 - Fog Lane Park, Benchill, G. Manchester - A half day at work, a cycle and a walk with a coffee and ham butty in the mix. 27th January 2025 - Reddish Vale CP, Stockport, Cheshire - A short mooch with a mate, a few fungi seen:- Mycena tenerrima; Stereum rugosum; Trametes versicolor; Daldinia concentrica; Orbilia xanthostigma; Xylaria hypoxylon; Nectria cinnabarina; Chondrostereum purpureum; Hypoxylon intermedium; Peniophora limitata; Tremella mesenterica; Peniophora quercina; Xylaria longipes; Ascocoryne sarcoides; Crepidotus cesatii and Exidia recisa. |
26th January 2025 - Poynton Coppice/Middlewood Way, Stockport, Cheshire - A good walk with the missus despite a late night gigging and a pesky cough. A few fungi were noted, these being:- Calloria neglecta; Tremella mesenterica; Erythricium aurantiacum; Hypoxylon intermedium; Stereum rugosum; Dichomitus campestris; Peniophora quercina; Diatrypella quercina; Vuilleminia comedens; Byssomerulius corium; Stereum hirsutum; Exidia glandulosa; Bertia moriformis; Phragmidium violaceum; Radulomyces molaris; Fomitopsis betulinus and Tubaria furfuracea. |
24th January 2025 - Bruntwood Park, Stockport, G. Manchester - A short cycle in the whipping wind, a coffee and bacon and egg bap, I fed the birds and only counted a few fungi before heading home. Ascocoryne cylichnium; Phlebia radiata; Ganoderma australe; Stereum hirsutum; Trametes versicolor; Xylaria carpophila; Vuilleminia comedens; Heterobasidion annosum; Xylaria hypoxylon and an old specimen of Polyporus squamosus. After a chat with my mate Peter Thompson I was informed that a recent asco I found on Stereum hirsutum was Hyphodiscus hymeniophilus which will be the 8th record on the Fungus Conservation Trust Database and only the 4th in the UK on the NBN Atlas - nifty! |
23rd January 2025 - Gorsey Bank, Stockport, G. Manchester - Clypeosphaeria mamillana was seen growing on the stems of Red Dogwood. |
22nd January 2025 - Heaton Moor, Stockport, G. Manchester - Arrhenia retiruga was seen growing from a mix of moss on a roadside wall. |
20th January 2025 - Gatley Carrs, Stockport, G. Manchester - A quick outing, the small amount of fungi identified were:- Leptosphaeria acuta; Dendryphion comosum; Calloria neglecta; Nitschkia confertula; Sarcoscypha austriaca; Phlebia radiata; Byssomerulius corium; Botryobasidium aureum; Hypoxylon petriniae; Chondrostereum purpureum and Exidia nucleata. Also was added the myxo (Trichia scabra) after some online advice and pictures.

17th January 2025 - Heaton Mersey, Stockport, G. Manchester - Lachnum virgineum was seen on rotten wood, the only fungi I noted whilst wandering home after a day at work. |
16th January 2025 - Painswick Park, Wythenshawe, G. Manchester - I am easing off on the fungal front for a bit, having recently packed in my walks, witnessed the rise in foraging and then being hit with Michael Jordan's death my mojo has disappeared. As I recorded the birds today, at a new area, I did still record:- Bjerkandera adusta; Daldinia concentrica; byssomerulius corium; peniophora quercina; Vuilleminia comedens; Rhopographus filicinus; Taphrina betulina and Trametes versicolor. |

3rd January 2025 - East Didsbury, G. Manchester - Walking home, a car park was laden with flooded cars, the price of natural neglect I am afraid to say. I saw Geoglossum fallax and skipped on into the rain. |
3rd January 2025 - River Mersey, Didsbury to Stockport, G. Manchester - The paths were covered in debris and mud, the rain was falling again and the river was still high after the recent floods. The only fungi recorded were:- Puccinia caricina var. ribesii-pendulae; Exidia recisa; Gloeophyllum sepiarium and Dacrymyces stillatus. |
3rd January 2025 - Fletcher Moss, Didsbury, G. Manchester - I left work early as we were having heating problems, it was freezing. I did a long loop walk home, nipped through this area for a coffee and noted Eutypella scoparia; Neonectria coccinea; Trametes gibbosa; Exidia recisa; Schizophyllum amplum and Tremella mesenterica. The area was flooded in many areas. |
