31st December 2019 - Mere Sands Wood, Lancashire - The final wander of the year, we were just intent on stretching the legs but noted a few final fungi anyway. Coprinellus micaceus; Hypholoma fasciculare; Tremella foliacea; Baeospora myosura and Fomes fomentarius were the pick of the crop with the final fungus ofthe year seen being Auriscalpium vulgare - lovely. |
31st December 2019 - Marshside RSPB, Lancashire - Claviceps purpurea was everywhere with some real stonking examples on show. The wet ground must be a factor as everywhere else this year this species has struggled. Several weeks later the Claviceps parasite Gibberella gordonii was identified on some specimens I was keeping in a box. |
30th December 2019 - Burton Mere RSPB, The Wirral - Daedalea quercina was in its usual spot and now of stonking proportions - nice! |
27th November 2019 - Chorlton Water Park, G.Manchester - A few fungi were noted, the most interesting being:- Bjerkandera fumosa and Arthrinium phaeospermum. |
25th December 2019 - Poynton Pool, Stockport, Cheshire - Exidia recisa was nice to see and Byssomerulius corium was looking superb as it grew down a fallen twig. |

22nd December 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, G. Manchester - Out on the bike, Cuphophyllus virgineus was seen growing in a tucked away area and Diatrype bullata was found growing on a Populus branch, |
16th December 2019 - Edgeley, Stockport, G. Manchester - A wander around the street whilst waiting for the bike to be fixed and on a lawn were numerous clumps of Clavulinopsis corniculata - they were in tip-top condition too. |

9th December 2019 - Cheadle Heath Nomads, Stockport, G. Manchester - A bit of tidying up and Auricularia auricula-judae; Melanoleuca polioleuca and Xylaria carpophila were all recorded on the National Database. |
8th December 2019 - Chadkirk Chapel, Stockport, G. Manchester - A short walk to keep things moving, there was very little about to be fair but we didn't dawdle. Pleurotus ostreatus was in fine tiers cerawling up the side of an Oak and a few common species were found in and around some fallen Beech logs. Some Nettle stems held Nectria leptosphaeriae; Leptosphaeria doliolum; Dendryphion comosum and Calycina herbarum. |
7th December 2019 - Scout Dike and Royd Moor Reservoir, Barnsley, S. Yorkshire - A pre-footy walk, 10K covered and the weather was fair. 6th December 2019 - Heaton Moor, Stockport, Cheshire - Otidea onotica was seen to be growing in several nice clusters at the side of a path. |
5th December 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - Peziza micropus was seen on some woodchip - it was behind a fence so avoiding the main brunt of the frosts. |
4th December 2019 - Gorsey Bank, Stockport, Cheshire - Gnomonia cerastris was found whilst looking at a few Sycamore leaves. |
3rd December 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - Typhula variabilis was identified on the dead leaves of Pendulous Sedge. It took me three goes on the scope - these things are sent to test us. |

14th November 2019 - Gorsey Bank, Stockport, G.Manchester - A small patch of moss on an old wall, Arrhenia retiruga and Arrhenia rickenii were in attendance - I like this lovely little things. |
13th November 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, G.Manchester - Walking home and some woodchip held Psilocybe cyanescens; Hypholoma fasciculare; Galerina marginata and Melanoleuca freisii. The latter species came down to one of two, the cheilocystidia here had swollen middles and thin tapering necks with apical incrustations. |
9th November 2019 - Bolton Abbey, N. Yorkshire - A 2 hour walk with the Mid Yorkshire Fungus Group, a lovely bunch indeed and all done in decent weather for a change. 3rd November 2019 - Dibbinsdale NR, The Wirral - A walk with a few friends, there were no great swathes of fungi but we did just fine with a little effort and some local knowledge via Tony Carter of the NWFG. 31st October 2019 - Heaton Moor, Stockport, G. Manchester - Walking to work and a few species noted:- Coprinus comatus; Trametes gibbosa; Agaricus xanthoderma; Meripilus giganteus and Armillaria gallica kept the nonse ticking over. |
27th October 2019 - Fallowfield Loop, G. Manchester - 23 folk turned up for the last walk of the season at an area not ideal for fungal hunting but one that needs scanning to get the few species around on the national map. Manchester -I found the grey-orange and glutinous Heath Waxcap (Hygrocybe laeta); the slippery lemon-yellow imp that is Glistening Waxcap (Gloioxanthomyces vitellinus); the virginal purity of Snowy Waxcap (Cuphophyllus virgineus); the appetising peach of Meadow Waxcap (Cuphophyllus pratensis); the unmistakably scented Honey Waxcap (Hygrocybe reidii); the distinct subtlety of Earthy Powdercap (Cystoderma amianthinum) and the sinister assassin known as the Scarlet Caterpillar Fungus (Cordyceps militaris) - and all on a bit of mossy grass about 30ft by 20ft in the middle of urban Stockport - fantastic. |

6th October 2019 - Nutsford Vale CP, Greater Manchester - A free walk with a small group who were shown what a struggle fungi hunting can sometimes be, especially in a young urban area prone to flooding. This was an initial assessment though, we dug in, myself and Gill were treated to a wonderful 3 course lunch afterwards and the company was real nice. Manchester - A walk in purely awful weather with the 30 people booked on cancelling and just not turning up and leaving just 9 brave souls to have a 3 hour roam. 10th September 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - Cycling home and the colony of Agrocybe rivulosa were counted with 398 individual fruitbodies totted up. A few clumps of Hypholoma fasciculare were growing from an old slepper used as a pathside support and a cluster of Laccaria laccata were appearing in all shapes and sizes beneath a Rowan. Melampsoridium betulinum was growing on the leaves of Silver Birch. |

15th August 2019 - Heaton Moor, Stockport, Cheshire - The local churchyard came up with a trio of species, with Russulas farinipes; Russulas amoenolens; Russula parazurea and Rickenella fibula all appreciated. |
12th August 2019 - Fletcher Moss, G. Manchester - A wander with my mate Ant, very few fungi recorded but Collybia confluens was new for the year and 4 figure totals of Lacrymaria lacrymabunda was a winderful sight. Lepiota cristata and Russula sororia were both growing beneath some Silver Birch and that was it. Kuehneromyces mutabilis was found in a good clump, also on a Birch log. Parasola plicatilis was added later. |

30th July 2019 - Heaton Moor, Stockport, Cheshire - The time has arrived for me to start prowling in my dinner break and looking for fungi. Today I found two, at the side of a wall was a lone Agaricus arvensis, in thick litter beneath a patch of Nettles was a small gathering of Lepiota lilacea - very nice and the lengthy microscopy all helps me get tuned back in (in a small way at least). |

16th June 2019 - Roman Lakes, Stockport, Cheshire - A few fungi were noted as I led a wildlife walk:- 8 specimens of Amanita rubescens; a cluster of Agrocybe rivulosa; a encrusting of Annulohypoxylon multiforme and the rash of Puccinia urticata plus a mottling of Melampsora hypericorum. The punky arrangement of Seifertia azalaea was also enjoyed. |

4th April 2019 - Compton Verney, Warwickshire - We were having a trip down Bristol but my interest hasd been piqued by a fungus sighting at a place on the way to our destination. We veered off, had a good look in rainy conditions and eventual found 15 Cedar Cups (Geopora sumneriana) - crikey that was hard work but sincere thanks to David Champion for his advice - very, very kind. |

31st March 2019 - Leverhulme Park Nature Reserve, Bolton, Lancashire - A short walk today after Mother's Day duties were seen too. A few rusts were noted these included:- Entyloma ficariae; Uromyces dactylidis; Uromyces ficariae; Puccinia urticae and Bauhinus marginalis. Coprinellus micaceus was the only other fungus seen. |
30th March 2019 - Rother Valley CP, Sheffield, W. Yorkshire - Enteridium lycoperdon and Daedaleopsis confragosa were the only things seen today, both on Salix sp. To be fair we are looking at other areas of the natural world at the moment. |
