9th November 2019 - Bolton Abbey, N. Yorkshire - A 2 hour walk with the Mid Yorkshire Fungus Group, a lovely bunch indeed and all done in decent weather for a change. 6th November 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - A look at some Nettle stems on the way home, 8 species were recognised after microscopy, these were:- Belonidium sulphureum; Torula herbarum; Phragmocephala atra; Calycina herbarum; Crocicreas cyathoideum; Nectria leptosphaeriae; Didymosphaeria conoidea and Periconia byssoides.
 
3rd November 2019 - Dibbinsdale NR, The Wirral - A walk with a few friends, there were no great swathes of fungi but we did just fine with a little effort and some local knowledge via Tony Carter of the NWFG. 31st October 2019 - Heaton Moor, Stockport, G. Manchester - Walking to work and a few species noted:- Coprinus comatus; Trametes gibbosa; Agaricus xanthoderma; Meripilus giganteus and Armillaria gallica kept the nonse ticking over.
 
27th October 2019 - Fallowfield Loop, G. Manchester - 23 folk turned up for the last walk of the season at an area not ideal for fungal hunting but one that needs scanning to get the few species around on the national map. 19th October 2019 - Mere Sands Wood, Lancashire - A nice sold out walk and after a pre-walk mooch, a few hours with some grand folk and some late evening microscopy the total was 127 species with many usual specimens missing. 18th October 2019 - Heaton Moor, Stockport, G. Manchester - A small bit of grass was checked in urban Stockport simply because it had a couple of Siver Birch growing on it. The return was Paxillus involutus; Tricholoma argyraceum; Cortinarius hemitrichus; Hygrocybe conica; Geoglossum cookeanum; Inocybe sindonia; Inocybe cincinnata var. cincinnata and Lactarius pubescens.
 
17th October 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, G. Manchester - Inocybe flocculosa agg. was seen whilst wandering homeward.
 
16th October 2019 - Bewsey Woods, Warrington, Cheshire - A walk leading members of The Green Angels, Land Trust. 15th October 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, G.Manchester - Walking home and the eyes were distracted by more fungi. The few species seen were:- Helvella crispa; Hypholoma fasciculare; Xylaria hypoxylon; Inocybe geophylla; Lepista nuda and Lactarius glyciosmus - tis nice to see things on the doorstep.
 
13th October 2019 - Tatton Park, Cheshire - The annual walk was set to be done in horrendous rain, we got lucky and avoided all droplets and along the way a fine group were treated to 99 species. 11th October 2019 - River Mersey/Gorsey Bank, Stockport, G. Manchester - Cycling home and a few fungi seen and to record. Mycena leptocephala; Armillaria gallica; Rhytisma salicinum; Hypholoma fasciculare; Laccaria laccata; Lycoperdon pyriforme; Mycena galericulata; Cortinarius hemitrichus; Hebeloma fragilipes and Puccinia distincta were the species nailed.
 

11th October 2019 - Heaton Moor, Stockport, G. Manchester -I found the grey-orange and glutinous Heath Waxcap (Hygrocybe laeta); the slippery lemon-yellow imp that is Glistening Waxcap (Gloioxanthomyces vitellinus); the virginal purity of Snowy Waxcap (Cuphophyllus virgineus); the appetising peach of Meadow Waxcap (Cuphophyllus pratensis); the unmistakably scented Honey Waxcap (Hygrocybe reidii); the distinct subtlety of Earthy Powdercap (Cystoderma amianthinum) and the sinister assassin known as the Scarlet Caterpillar Fungus (Cordyceps militaris) - and all on a bit of mossy grass about 30ft by 20ft in the middle of urban Stockport - fantastic.

 
9th October 2019 - Moore NR, Cheshire - The annual pootle for a bunch of home-schooled kids and the parents was done today at this reliable haunt. 5th October 2019 - Nutsford Vale CP, Greater Manchester - A free walk with a small group who were shown what a struggle fungi hunting can sometimes be, especially in a young urban area prone to flooding. This was an initial assessment though, we dug in, myself and Gill were treated to a wonderful 3 course lunch afterwards and the company was real nice. 2nd October 2019 - Cheadle Heath, Stockport, Cheshire - A pop in a neighbour's house to look at some ascomycetes growing on some straw, the result was Peziza vesiculosa.

14th September 2019 - Parrs Wood Environmental Centre, Didsbury, G. Manchester - Whilst looking at bugs I noted a few fungi:- Postia caesia; Laccaria laccata; Puccinia allii and Polyporus leptocephalus.
 
10th September 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - Cycling home and the colony of Agrocybe rivulosa were counted with 398 individual fruitbodies totted up. A few clumps of Hypholoma fasciculare were growing from an old slepper used as a pathside support and a cluster of Laccaria laccata were appearing in all shapes and sizes beneath a Rowan. Melampsoridium betulinum was growing on the leaves of Silver Birch.

26th August 2019 - Oswestry, Shropshire - Tea and cake at a friends house, a new fungus for us was seen in the garden, Chlorophyllum brunneum - bonus.
 
26th August 2019 - Ifton Meadows LNR, Shropshire - A walk with a good friend and back to his for tea and cake afterwards whilst sat in the glorious sun. The list was far from large but we did see a few quality species. 15th August 2019 - Heaton Moor, Stockport, Cheshire - The local churchyard came up with a trio of species, with Russulas farinipes; Russulas amoenolens; Russula parazurea and Rickenella fibula all appreciated.
 
12th August 2019 - Fletcher Moss, G. Manchester - A wander with my mate Ant, very few fungi recorded but Collybia confluens was new for the year and 4 figure totals of Lacrymaria lacrymabunda was a winderful sight. Lepiota cristata and Russula sororia were both growing beneath some Silver Birch and that was it. Kuehneromyces mutabilis was found in a good clump, also on a Birch log. Parasola plicatilis was added later.
 
11th August 2019 - Ainsdale Sands, Lancashire - Looking for flowers, Taphrina alni; Marasmius oreades and Psathyrella amophila were the few fungi noted.

8th August 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - Hygrocybe conica; Laetiporus sulphureus; Amanita rubescens; Hypomyces chrysospermus and Russula amoenolens were seen whilst pootling in my break.
 
5th August 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - Whilst leading a bug and bloom hunt I threw a few fungi in the mix, these were:- Puccinia poarum; Scleroderma areolatum; Rhytisma acerinum; Tarzetta catinus; Inocybe dulcamara and Claviceps purpurea.
 
3rd August 2019 - Dalton Bank NR, West Yorkshire - Still looking and bugs, birds and blooms we did note a few fungi, these were:- Scleroderma verrucosum; Calocera pallido-spathulata; Stereum sanguinolentum; Stereum hirsutum; Fomitopsis betulina; Annulohypoxylon multiforme; Bovista plumbea; Scleroderma citrinum; Amanita rubescens; Daedaleopsis confragosa; Microsphaeria alphitoides; Phallus impudicus; Phacidium multivalve; Trochila ilicina; Russula ochroleuca; Marasmius oreades; Xylaria longipes and the myxo Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa.
 
30th July 2019 - Heaton Moor, Stockport, Cheshire - The time has arrived for me to start prowling in my dinner break and looking for fungi. Today I found two, at the side of a wall was a lone Agaricus arvensis, in thick litter beneath a patch of Nettles was a small gathering of Lepiota lilacea - very nice and the lengthy microscopy all helps me get tuned back in (in a small way at least).
 
21st July 2019 - Gatley Carrs, Stockport, Cheshire - Golovinomyces sordidus; Erysiphe heraclei and Uromyces geranii were the only fungi seen.

13th July 2019 - Lakethwaite, Cumbria - Onygena equina and Puccinia urticata were 2 fungi seen whilst looking for flowers.
 
12th July 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - Scleroderma areolatum and Taphrina alni were 2 species suggesting the season proper is really not that far away.
 
12th July 2019 - Heaton Moor, Stockport, Cheshire - Sawadaea tulasnei was seen growing on the leaves of Norway Maple.
 
6th July 2019 - Collard Hill, Somerset - Macrolepiota procera and Phragmidium sanguisorbiae were 2 fungi noted.
 
5th July 2019 - Radipole Lake RSPB, Dorset - Taphrina tosquinetii and Paxillus involutus were the 2 fungal examples noted.
 
4th July 2019 - Dean Hill, Ulwell, Dorset - Macrolepiota procera was a surprise find on a sizzling bug-filled day.
 
29th June 2019 - Portland Bill, Dorset - Puccinia smyrnii was seen on Alexanders.
 
28th June 2019 - Slop Bog, Dorset - Many specimens of Coprinopsis nivea, in all stages, were seen sprouting from some cow dung.
 
27th June 2019 - Willow and Wetlands Centre, Somerset - The first specimen of Taphrina alni was found the this year - always a lovely moment.
 
24th June 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - After all the rain it was no surprise to see Mucilago crustacea on grass.
 
22nd June 2019 - Abbot's Moss, Cheshire - 2 Blushers (Amanita rubescens); Bracken Map (Rhopographus filicnus) and a few Birch Polypores (Fomitopsis betulinus) and that was our lot on a day bug-hunting.
 
17th June 2019 - Fletcher Moss, G. Manchester - Cycling and covered in muck but I did see some fungi:- Pasthyrella candolleana; Daldinia concentrica; Stereum hirsutum; Calocera cornea; Auricularia auricula-judae; Pleurotus ostreatus; Coprinellus disseminatus; Calocybe gambosa and the myxo Lycogala terrestre.
 
16th June 2019 - Roman Lakes, Stockport, Cheshire - A few fungi were noted as I led a wildlife walk:- 8 specimens of Amanita rubescens; a cluster of Agrocybe rivulosa; a encrusting of Annulohypoxylon multiforme and the rash of Puccinia urticata plus a mottling of Melampsora hypericorum. The punky arrangement of Seifertia azalaea was also enjoyed.
 
13th June 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - Pucinnia poarum was spied for the first time this year.
 
10th June 2019 - Gatley Carrs, Stockport, Cheshire - Parasola plicatilis was identified after a touch of microscopy - the fact it was growing on woodchip threw me - these fungi just don't play by the rules.
 
7th June 2019 - Rainham Marsh RSPB, Essex - Puccinia phragmitis was the only fungus seen on a rather busy pootle.
 
6th June 2019 - Barton Hills, Bedfordshire - A couple of micro fungi kept the peepers just clued in, Puccinia thymi and Microbotryum lychnidis-dioicae were the species identified.
 
6th June 2019 - Wyke Slough NR, Warwickshire - Whilst lkooking for bugs we spied a few rust fungi:- Puccinia urticata and Triphtagmium ulmariae.
 
2nd June 2019 - Godmanchester NR, Cambridgeshire - A few more fungi, Puccinia malvacaerum; Puccinia phragmitis; Puccinia urticata; Puccinia punctiformis; Phragmidium tuberculatum and Microbotryum lychnidis-dioicae kept the head ticking.
 
31st May - Draycote Water, Warwickshire - A few fungi were seen today, Polyporus squamosus; Paxillus involutus; Marasmius oreades; Puccinia punctiformis; Trametes versicolor; Daedaleopsis confragosa and Agrocybe cylindracea were the species named and shamed.
 
26th May 2019 - Astley and Chat Mosses, G. Manchester - A few micro fungi seen whilst looking for birds were:- Puccinia urticata; Puccinia vincae and Melampsorella symphyti. A old Fomitopsis betulinus was seen too.
 
25th May 2019 - Freshfield Dune Heath NR, Lancashire - Triphragmium ulmariae was on the leaves of Meadowsweet.
 
25th May 2019 - Cheadle Heath Nomads FC, Stockport, G. Manchester - Whilst building a logpile we noted 48 specimens of Agaricus xanthodermus; some Daldinia concentrica and Hypoxylon petriniae on Ash logs and some Nectria cinnabarina on a few branches.
 
20th May 2019 - Etherow CP, Stockport, G. Manchester - Bauhinus marginalis was back in its usual spot.
 
18th May 2019 - Chadkirk Chapel, Stockport, Cheshire - Synchitrium taraxaci was seen on Dandelions leaves.
 
16th May 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - Puccinia punctiformis and Puccinia malvacaerum were 2 rusts noted.
 
8th May 2019 - Cale Green Park, Stockport, Cheshire - Puccinia vincae was noted in its usual place on a day that was quite miserable.
 
6th May 2019 - Millers Dale, Derbyshire - A few fungi were picked out today whilst we wandered looking for all things wild. Trametes gibbosa; Bjerkandera adusta; Triphragmium ulmariae; Microbotryum violaceum; Puccinia sessilis; Uromyces dactylidis; Uromyces ficariae and Urocystis anemones were the odd things picked up.
 
25th April 2019 - Gatley Carrs, Stockport, Cheshire - Entyloma ficariae; Uromyces ficariae; Puccinia lagenophorae; Gloeophyllum sepiarium; Ganoderma australe; Uromyces muscari; Bauhinus marginalis; Melampsora allii-populina and Kretzschmaria deusta were the few fungi seen today.
 
24th April 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - Monilinia johnsonii was seen on Hawthorn leaves - it keeps the numbers rolling.
 
23rd April 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - Puccinia pulverulenta was now on the leaves of Willowherb.
 
13th April 2019 - Marshside RSPB, Lancashire - A couple of fungi at the seaside, both on as dead log, namely Datronia mollis and Enteridium lycoperdon.
 
8th April 2019 - Fletcher Moss, G. Manchester - Calocybe gambosa; Coprinopsis atramentaria; Lyophyllum decastes; Exidia plana; Exidia nucleata; Coprinellus micaceus; Fomes fomentarius; Pleurotus ostreatus and Hypoxylon petriniae were fungi noted whilst on the prowl for bugs.
 
7th April 2019 - Sandwell Valley, West Midlands - Calocybe gambosa; Coprinellus micaceus; Trametes versicolor and Daedaleopsis confragosa were a few fungi seen today whilst, once again, watching the birdies.
 
6th April 2019 - Ham Wall RSPB, Somerset - Another birding walk, a few fungi seen:- Puccinia sessilis; Coprinopsis atramentaria; Bolbitius titubans; Puccinia urticata and Fomitopsis betulinus.
 
5th April 2019 - Woodchester Park NT, Gloucestershire - Some plastic covered straw bales were spied and lo and behold a few cracking examples of Schizophyllum commune were noted bursting through the packaging - it is what they do.
 
5th April 2019 - Slimbridge WWT, Gloucestershire - Coprinellus disseminatus was noted whilst on a birding wander.
 
4th April 2019 - Compton Verney, Warwickshire - We were having a trip down Bristol but my interest hasd been piqued by a fungus sighting at a place on the way to our destination. We veered off, had a good look in rainy conditions and eventual found 15 Cedar Cups (Geopora sumneriana) - crikey that was hard work but sincere thanks to David Champion for his advice - very, very kind.
 
1st April 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - Another fungus for the year, Cumminsiella mirabilissima was on the leaves of Mahonia.
 
31st March 2019 - Leverhulme Park Nature Reserve, Bolton, Lancashire - A short walk today after Mother's Day duties were seen too. A few rusts were noted these included:- Entyloma ficariae; Uromyces dactylidis; Uromyces ficariae; Puccinia urticae and Bauhinus marginalis. Coprinellus micaceus was the only other fungus seen.
 
30th March 2019 - Rother Valley CP, Sheffield, W. Yorkshire - Enteridium lycoperdon and Daedaleopsis confragosa were the only things seen today, both on Salix sp. To be fair we are looking at other areas of the natural world at the moment.
 
18th March 2019 - Fletcher Moss, G. Manchester - Phragmidium fragariae was seen on Barren Strawberry and is a new species for the area - nice. Exidia plana and Mycena tenerrima were fungal extras.
 
18th March 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - Melampsora allii-populina was frequent and seems to have gone mad and appeared from nowhere over the past few days.
 
17th March 2019 - Worsbrough CP, W. Yorkshire - 2 rusts on Lesser Celandine were Uromyces ficariae and Uromyces dactylidis. Phellinus igniarius was frequent and the years first Melampsora allii-populina was picked out.
 
14th March 2019 - Heaton Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - A fine clump of Coprinellus domesticus was seen whilst walking home.
 
12th March 2019 - Heaton Moor, Stockport, Cheshire - Melamspora euphorbiae was seen today, things are ticking over.
 
11th March 2019 - Parkgate, The Wirral - Another new fungus for the annual list, Puccinia smyrnii was the suspect sussed.
11th March 2019 - Burton Mere RSPB, The Wirral - A new fungus for the year, Daedalea quercina was the species seen.
 
3rd March 2019 - Flixton/William Wroe Golf Course, G. Manchester - Around a garden we found Daldinia concentrica; Bjerkandera adusta; Ganoderma australe; Hypoxylon petriniae; Trochila laurocerasi whilst roaming a nearby golf course we came across:- Annulohypoxylon multiforme; Nectria cinnabarina; Auricularia auricula-judae; Datronia mollis; Dacrymyces stillatus; Sarcoscypha austriaca and Stereum hirsutum.
 
27th February 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - 2 new fungi noted for the year, Uromyces dactylidis and Calcarisporium arbuscula - on we go!
 
17th February 2019 - Parrs Wood Environmental Centre, Didsbury, G. Manchester - A mooch and a few fungi seen:- Gymnopilus penetrans; Geastrum triplex; Skeletocutis amorpha; Puccinia malvacaerum; Puccinia lapsanae and Kretzchmaria deusta were enjoyed and shared with a few local faces doing their bit for this fine area.
 
12th February 2019 - Heaton Moor, Stockport, Cheshire - Melampsora hypericorum was noted and is the 152nd fungus of the year.
 
12th February 2019 - Gorsey Bank, Stockport, Cheshire - Puccinia lapsanae was the only fungus today - it keeps the annual list rolling.
 
11th February 2019 - Reddish Vale CP, G. Manchester - Only 1 fungi seen today, Daldinia fissa on burnt Gorse.
 
9th February 2019 - Fletcher Moss, Didsbury, G. Manchester - Puccinia vincae and a fine swathe of Polyporus brumalis were the only notable species on a brisk walk in the wind.
 
6th February 2019 - Gorsey Bank, Stockport, Cheshire - Trechispora farinacea was seen growing on the underside of an old Ganoderma australe.
 
4th February 2019 - Bruntwood Park, Stockport, Cheshire - Bulgaria inquinans and Coleroa robertiana were the only two fungi noted today!
 
1st February 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - A walk home, 3 fungi identified with the microscope:- Stictis stellata; Hypoderma hederae and Anthostomella rubicola.

21st January 2019 - Abney Hall, Stockport, Cheshire - A bike ride, a few fungi seen, the best being:- Leratiomyces ceres; Arrhenia retiruga; Hypholoma fasciculare; Belonidium sulphureum; Mycena meliigena; Mycena pseudocorticola; Cyphella ferruginea and Mycena tenerrima.

16th January 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - A few fungi seen on the way home:- Pleurotus ostreatus; Auricularia auricula-judae; Annulohypoxylon multiforme and Tubaria furfuracea plus after microscopy I added Leptosphaeria doliolum; Stictis stellata; Crepidotus luteolus and Hemimycena pseudocrispula.

11th January 2019 - Heaton Moor, Stockport, G. Manchester - An urban wander - fungi seen were:- Hypholoma fasciculare; Arrhenia retiruga; Galerina clavata; Lachnella villosa; Clavulina rugosa and Arrhenia rickenii.
 
10th January 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - Gloeophyllum sepiarium was growing on decorticated wood thast was supporting a pathway.
 
10th January 2019 - Heaton Moor, Stockport, Cheshire - Albugo candida was seen growing on Hedge Mustard.
 
9th January 2019 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - Tricholoma scalpturatum was growing beneath a pathside Birch.
 
6th January 2019 - Cheadle Heath, Stockport, Cheshire - Torula herbarum was on some old Nettle stems in the garden.
 
5th January 2019 - Eastham CP, The Wirral - The second location of the day, birds were sought, we did throw in a few fungal specimens, these being:- Daldinia fissa; Peniophora incarnata; Bisporella sulfurina; Schizopora paradoxa; Hypocrea aureoviridis; Crepidotus epibryus; Coniophora puteana; Ascotremella faginea and Uromyces muscari.
 
5th January 2019 - Brotherton Park and Dibbinsdale Local Nature Reserve, The Wirral - A wander, a few fungi noted at a new place. The list was small but it all helps to put things on the map. 1st January 2019 - Knypersley Reservoir, Biddulph, Staffordshire - Myself, wife and daughter set out to have a walk and chose this new spot to us to do a bit of birding.
