26th December 2018 - Fletcher Moss, G. Manchester - A quick yomp. Melanotus horizontalis; some emerging specimens of Sarcoscypha austriaca and a clonking example of Volvopluteus gloiocephalus, with a smaller specimen at its side, were the pick of the fungal observations. |

21st December 2018 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - A bike ride, a run, a walk and 2 fungi seen on Gorse:- Chondrostereum purpureum and Terana caerulea - a purple and bright blue combo to raise the spirits on a damp and ghastly day! After consultation with Peter Thompson my suspicions of Valsa cypri were confirmed making it 3 nice finds on the same host! |

2nd December 2018 - Bretton Country Park, W. Yorkshire - A cracking Full-English breakfast, a bit of shopping and then a birding walk to follow. 25th November 2018 - Chadkirk Chapel, Stockport, Cheshire - Time is whizzing by now as we take the run up to the festive season. 28th October 2018 - Fairy Glen LNR, Conwy - We like to visit new places, this was the 759th in the UK. There wasn't much about but a few fungi will get recorded:- Pluteus salicinus; Rhytisma acerinum; Lycoperdon pyriforme; Trametes versicolor; Stereum hisutum; Ganoderma australe and Coprinellus micaceus were all appreciated and will all get logged on The Fungus Conservation Trust Database. |
27th October 2018 - Bodnant Gardens, Conwy - A brace of 2 hour walks were led and it seems just in time as the fungus season was fizzling fast and numbers were growing less and less by the day. Today I led a group of 15 patient folk on a 2 hour wander and came up with 52 species. 20th October 2018 - Mere Sands Wood, Lancashire - Another full house for a fungal walk, it had been a good year for attendances, long may it continue. 18th August 2018 - Marbury CP, Cheshire - A wander looking for galls, a few fungi were noted along the way:- several specimens of Neoboletus luridiformis were looking splendid; Marasmius rotula was on buried debris; Scleroderma verrucosum was found by a member of the group; Puccinia veronicae was spied on an Speedwell leaf, Bjerkandera adusta was looking fresh and Cyathus olla was a lovely turn up whilst looking at a dried up cap and stem specimen. Phragmidium violaceum; Ganoderma australe; Annulohypoxylon multiforme; Hyphodontia sambuci; Hypomyces chrysospermus and Trametes gibbosa were a few others I picked out. Microscopy later revealed Psathyrella candolleana; Parasola leiocephala and Russula amoenolens. |

Manchester - A few few fungi were noted on my dinnertime stroll:- 2 specimens of Neoboletus luridiformis were seen growing in association with Lime; Hypomyces chrysosperma was covering a dried out and therefore unidentifiable Bolete and Puccinia violae was seen on some low growing Violet leaves. Agaricus bitorquis was later identified usung macro and micro features. |

1st May 2018 - Heaton Moor, Stockport, G. Manchester - Groundsel was in flower and sporting seeds whilst wearing a patchwork of Puccinia lagenophorae and Albugo tragopogonis. Puccinia pulverulenta was noted for the first time this year. |
29th April 2018 - Pot Hole Quarry, Denbighshire - A walk with some folk looking for fungi, I personally saw 29 species but others were noted. My list was:- Albugo candida; Uromyces dactylidis; Uromyces ficariae; Trametes versicolor; Puccinia adoxae; Phragmidium fragariae; Morchella semilibera; Uromyces muscari; Dichomitus campestris; Rhopographus filicinus; Hypoxylon fuscum; Hymenochaete corrugata; Vuilleminia coryli; Entyloma ficariae; Puccinia tumida; Lachnum virgineum; Calocybe gambosa; Daldinia concentrica; Laetiporus sulphureus; Piptoporus betulinus; Geastrum fimbriatum; Auricularia auricula-judae; Xylaria hypoxylon; Rhytisma acerinum; Psathyrella candolleana; Parasola leiocephala; Leptosphaeria doliolum; Dumontinia tuberosa; Conocybe aporos and the myxo Entiridium lycoperdon. |
22nd April 2018 - Messingham Sand Quarry, Lincolnshire - Disciotis venosa and Strobilurus tenacellus were noted whilst pootling for birdlife. |
15th April 2018 - Pennington Flash, G. Manchester - Whilst having a walk with the lasses a good cluster of Coprinellus micaceus was seen on some old wood, the wicked wood parasite Kretzschmaria deusta was starting to reappear and 4 good specimens of Polyporus squamosus were just starting to get going. |
2nd April 2018 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - Melampsora allii-populina was abundant on the leaves of Ramsons. |
26th March 2018 - Denso Marston NR, Shipley, W. Yorkshire - Flammulina velutipes; Polyporus brumalis; Daldinia concentrica and Gloeophyllum sepiarium were seen whilst wandering in the sun. We did find some nice mycelium too! |
16th February 2018 - River Mersey to Abney Hall, Stockport, Cheshire - A walk with the missus, Terana caerulea was back on its usual host, Daldinia fissa was alongside as well as Peniophora incarnata and Mollisia ligni. Loreleia marchantiae was on, of course, Marchantia polymorpha. |
4th February 2018 - Wyming Brook NR, Sheffield, S. Yorkshire - Another good yomp at a new location, 25 species of fungi were seen, these being:- Exidia nucleata; Exidia glandulosa; Rhytisma acerinum; Byssomerulius corium; Nectria episphaeria; Chaetosphaerella phaeostroma; Phacidium multivalve; Stereum rugosum; Arrhenia retiruga; Tubaria furfuracaea; Dacrymyces stillatus; Puccinia lagenophorae; Ganoderma australe; Heterobasidion annosum; Chondrostereum purpureum; Trametes versicolor; Xylaria hypoxylon; Xylaria carpophila; Mycena haematopus; Fomes fomentarius; Auricularia auricula-judae; Rhopographus filicinus; Taphrina betulina; Stereum hirsutum and Fomitopsis betulina. |
4th February 2018 - Rivelin Valley NR, Sheffield, S. 22nd January 2018 - Wright's Wood NR, Stockport, Cheshire - Out on the bike and a quick pootle in the small, tucked away wood. What a quagmire, I came out caked and it was a struggle getting the bike through. 18 species of fungi were noted, these being:- Puccinia caricina var, ribesii-pendulae; Ascocoryne cylichnium; Chondrostereum purpureum; Exidia nucleata; Auricularia auricula-judae; Trametes versicolor; Geastrum triplex; Mycena speirea; Xylaria hypoxylon; Hypoxylon petrinieae; Byssomerulius corium; Trichoderma viride; Sarcoscypha coccinea; Pleurotus ostreatus; Daldinia concentrica; Nectria cinnabarina; Ganoderma australe; Postia subcaesia and Dacrymyces stillatus. |
21st January 2018 - Chorlton WP. G. Manchester - An awful day but we had a stroll and stretched the old legs. Uromyces muscari; some old specimens of Lycoperdon excipuliformis; 51 examples of Geastrum triplex; some small Sarcoscypha austriaca as well as Arrhenia retiruga; Fomitopsis betulina; Dacrymyces stillatus; Tubaria furfuracea; Stictis stellata; Mycena vitilis; Psathyrella bipellis and Lycoperdon pyriforme were seen along the way. |
20th January 2018 - River Mersey, Stockport, Cheshire - A bike ride in the rain, 4 fungi noted:- Mycena tennerima; Mycena speirea; Phlebia radiata; Leptosphaeria acuta and Calloria neglecta. Crikey I was gald to get home out of the wretched conditions. |
14th January 2018 - Kirkstall Abbey, Leeds, W. Yorkshire - A wander around the ruins and a walk down the river. Not much about but we did see:- Pleurotus ostreatus; Flammulina velutipes; Phellinus igniarius; Rhytisma acerinum; Chondrostereum purpureum; Daedaleopsis confragosa and Albugo tragopogonis. |
