ADULT: Wingspan 40 - 45mm. Similar to the Elephant Hawkmoth but smaller and more brightly coloured. Also there is no green thoracic stripe. Overall colour is a delicious combination of pinks and greens CHRYSALIS: Located within leaf litter or just below soil level. LARVA: July to September on Bedstraws and Willowherbs. BEHAVIOUR: Attracted to light. HABITAT: A variety of habitats with a preference for chalky, grassy areas and woodland clearings. FLIGHT PERIOD: Single brooded. May to July. STATUS: Resident. Common. |
